The New Jersey Devils snapped their four-game losing streak with an offensive explosion to beat Tampa Bay 6-1. The Devils had scored only four goals during their skid but used a hat trick from Jay Pandolfo and three assists, plus a goal, from John Madden to prolong Tampa Bay’s own losing streak, which is currently at five games, reports the AP. It was NJ's first win in its new Newark arena.

The game was scoreless going into the second period but two goals in a two-minute span gave New Jersey the lead. Vincent Lacavalier scored late in that period to bring the Lightning to within one but it was all Devils in the third, as they added four unanswered goals. New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur, playing in his 900th game, had 21 saves. (More hockey stories.)
