He’s been called the “world’s smartest horse,” and now he’s got a Guinness World Record: Lukas holds the record for “Most Numbers Correctly Identified by a Horse in One Minute”—19. The 17-year-old thoroughbred has a wealth of tricks under his belt, including counting, picking out shapes, spelling his name, and understanding when “something is missing,” says his trainer and owner.

“That is a skill that was previously only detected in primates and parrots,” she notes. As for the new world record, “I do believe he wanted to (do) his best. He was very focused and able to concentrate during the attempt,” she said. Now, his trainer hopes to get him another spot in the record book—perhaps “something with his sense of ‘absentness,’” the knowledge that something’s missing, AOL News reports.
