Black Friday always seems to bring out a few ne’er-do-wells, and yesterday was no exception: An alleged shoplifter is accused of stabbing a Marine—who was collecting Toys for Tots donations, no less—at a Georgia Best Buy. Cpl. Phillip Duggan, 24, was attempting to stop Tracey Attaway, 39, whom staffers had seen placing a laptop under his jacket on security video, the Augusta Chronicle reports.

The “irate” Attaway, when confronted, “let go of the laptop, ran out the front door, knocked one of my employees down, and pulled out a knife,” a manager says. Duggan “clotheslined him” as he exited the store, but, another volunteer says, Attaway stabbed him in the back. Duggan’s fellow Marines and store employees tackled the suspect shortly thereafter. Duggan recuperated in an Army medical center yesterday, and Attaway was charged with crimes including armed robbery assault and jailed. Click here for another crazy tale from Black Friday.
