Valterri Flippula scored the game-winning goal with 25 seconds left last night to give the Detroit Red Wings a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers, their sixth straight victory overall, reports the Detroit Free Press. Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson, whose top-notch goal tending helped knock the Red Wings from the 2006 playoffs, had 13 saves in the first period.

The Oilers lost their third top defenseman this season halfway through the second period when Dallas Drake and Matt Greene collided, breaking Greene's ankle. Said Henrik Zetterberg, who scored the first goal for the Red Wings, "It wasn’t a great game, but it was a good win.” (More Detroit Red Wings stories.)
