The Penguins were once again led by their precocious stars in a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Evegeni Malkin, 21, scored two second period goals and Sidney Crosby, 20, added a goal and three assists. However it was 30-year-old Petr Sykora who broke the 2-2 tie midway through the third period with a power play goal, reports the AP.

The Wild were without their top goalie, Niklas Backstrom, who was one of several Minnesota players out with pulled groins. Despite being shorthanded, Minnesota kept it close, thanks to goals from Stephane Veilleux and Brian Rolston. Pittsburgh’s goalie Dany Sabourin recorded 28 saves. It was the young Penguins first visit to Minnesota, where Crosby went to prep school. (More hockey stories.)
