Roger Ailes: NPR Brass Are 'Nazis'

Roger Ailes thinks Juan Williams is a “true liberal,” but he hired him anyway because he was mad at NPR. “They are, of course, Nazis,” the Fox News chief told Howard Kurtz of the Daily Beast. “They are the left wing of Nazism. … They don’t even feel guilty using tax dollars to spout their propaganda.” Asked for comment on the outburst, an NPR spokeswoman said, “We will let Mr. Ailes’ words speak for themselves.”

Ailes also had a lot to say about a recent hour-long chat he had with Jon Stewart when the Daily Show host stopped by the O’Reilly Factory. “He’s obviously really, really smart,” says Ailes. “He openly admits he’s sort of an atheist and a socialist.” But when Kurtz asked about Stewart’s attacks on Fox, Ailes flew off the handle. “He hates conservatives,” Ailes said. “He’s crazy. If it wasn’t polarized, he couldn’t make a living. He makes a living by attacking conservatives.” Kurtz tried to interrupt, but Ailes continued, “He loves polarization. If liberals and conservatives were getting along, how good would that show be? It’d be a bomb.” (More Roger Ailes stories.)
