University of Southern Mississippi linebacker Martez Smith has been paralyzed from the waist down following a nightclub shooting this weekend, a source tells the AP. Smith was one of three Southern Miss players shot in the club’s parking lot early Sunday after their win over Central Florida. Linebacker Tim Green was shot in the neck and lineman Deddrick Jones in the chest, but the bullet that hit Smith went through his spine, the source said. Police have arrested two people in connection with the shooting, and are searching for a third. (More Martez Smith stories.)
