Obamas Begin India Visit

President Obama's 10-day overseas trip is under way, with he and the first lady paying homage today to the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks of 2008. "We visit here to send a very clear message that, in our determination to give our people a future of security and prosperity, the United States and India stand united," Obama declared. Much of the focus, however, will be on trade, as Obama himself spelled out in a New York Times essay. "It is hard to overstate the importance of Asia to our economic future," he writes. As part of the push, he's unveiling a series of reforms today to boost trade between the US and India, including the restoration of trade with several once-banned Indian companies, notes the Washington Post.
