Letter Bombs Explode in Athens

Letter bombs exploded at the Russian and Swiss embassies in Athens today, and three more were sent to other embassies in the Greek capital, the New York Times reports. So far, no injuries have been reported from those two blasts. According to Greek media reports, the Swiss embassy threw a suspicious package addressed to it into its front yard, where the device exploded harmlessly. There are no details yet about the Russian bomb.

Bombs were also sent to the Bulgarian and Chilean embassies, and were detonated by police; a fifth package, sent to the German embassy, was returned to the courier firm that sent it and destroyed. Counterterrorism officers have nabbed two suspects in the attacks, and are currently questioning them. The attacks follow a series of similar attempts yesterday. For more on those bombs, click here.
