It's a new breed of GOP woman: Whether they're telling Harry to "man up," knocking the president's cojones, carting around a gun, or getting catty with a rival's hairdo, "We are in the era of Republican Mean Girls," writes Maureen Dowd in the New York Times. These are "grown-up versions of those teenage tormentors who would steal your boyfriend, spray-paint your locker and, just for good measure, spread rumors that you were pregnant."

Dowd's talking to you, "Jan, Meg, Carly, Sharron, Linda, Michele, Queen Bee Sarah and sweet wannabe Christine," who have "co-opted and ratcheted up the disgust with the status quo that originally buoyed Barack Obama. The Mean Girls have replaced Hope with Spite and Cool with Cold"—and they're not taking any prisoners. Watching Sharron Angle go for the jugular in a debate with Harry Reid, Dowd later slinked off, afraid that "if she saw me, she might take away my health insurance and spray-paint my locker."
