A Mexican police commander investigating the disappearance of an American jet skier has been beheaded, MSNBC reports. The head of Commander Rolando Flores was delivered to a police station in the border city of Ciudad Miguel Aleman. Though Flores had just provided information about gang members thought to be involved in the case of American David Hartley to a TV station in Texas, the local prosecutor's office in Mexico called the beheading unrelated.
The individuals who were being investigated by Flores are suspected of being part of a pirate gang on Falcon Lake, which stretches between the US and Mexico. Hartley's wife says he was shot and killed by pirates while they were jet skiing on the lake to photograph a submerged church. His body has not been recovered.
