MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell has apologized for his implication that Republican Party chief Michael Steele is a "slave" of the GOP. An angry Steele left a message complaining to Lawrence O'Donnell after he said on his program The Last Word earlier this week that Steele "is dancing as fast as he can, trying to charm independent voters and Tea Partiers while never losing sight of his real master and paycheck provider, the Republican National Committee."

Steele objected to the insinuation that he's a "slave to the RNC," and added: "I've had to put up with that crap my entire political life," reports Reuters. If a similar comment was made about Barack Obama "you would be hitting the roof on air!" Steele added. O'Donnell called Steele to apologize for using the word "master," and Steele accepted the apology, O'Donnell said on the air.
