9 Big Names Who Went to Community College

President Obama recently called community colleges the "unsung heroes of America’s education system." Huffington Post rounds up nine notable community college attendees who prove his point:

  1. Arnold Schwarzenegger: Attended Santa Monica College before becoming the Terminator, and then the Governator.
  2. Tom Hanks: He transferred from Chabot College in California to Cal State Sacramento before becoming a famous actor.

  1. Ross Perot: After graduating from Texarkana Junior College, he went on to become rich as the founder of Electronic Data Systems and famous as a two-time presidential candidate.
  2. Frank Gehry: The architect responsible for the Guggenheim Museum in Spain took his first architecture class at Los Angeles City College.
  3. Jackie Robinson: The famous baseball player played baseball—and football, basketball, and track—at Pasadena Junior College
