Jerry Brown apologized to Bill Clinton for a snarky jab related to Monica Lewinsky, but it remains to be seen if the popular former president will endorse Brown in his race for California governor against Meg Whitman. It all started after Whitman ran an ad accusing Brown of lying—by using a clip of Clinton, during the 1992 presidential primaries, accusing his then-opponent Brown of lying, and raising taxes to boot (watch the ad here). Only problem? Clinton's comments at the time weren't actually true, the Los Angeles Times reports.
"I mean Clinton's a nice guy, but who ever said he always told the truth?" Brown said Sunday at the opening of a Democratic Party office. "You remember, right? There's that whole story there about did he or didn't he," referring to Clinton's assertion that he "did not have sexual relations with that women." Unfortunately for Brown, his comments were caught on video, leading him to apologize publicly, as well as to a senior Clinton aide: "It was certainly wrong for me to joke about an incident from many, many years ago, and I'm sorry for that."
