With the swine flu outbreak taking an enormous, and sometimes fatal, toll on American kids, the Centers for Disease Control today released the last of its stockpiles of the children’s version of flu drug Tamiflu. Some 114 youngsters have been reported killed by the virus, and the actual number could be triple that—and winter flu season hasn’t even begun yet.

In all, the government released more than half a million doses in October; more aren’t expected to arrive before January from Roche, Tamiflu’s Swiss manufacturer. Still, there are 37 million adult-strength doses left in the federal stockpile, and those could be diluted to give to children should the need arise.
