How Sanford Can Get His Groove Back

Mark Sanford has fallen from grace, but he possesses the know-how to make his way back, writes Roger Simon of Politico. What the philandering governor has going for him:

• "He knows how to use people." Just look at his marriage: His wife ran his campaign in 1994, when they had two children under 2, and he paid her back “by betraying and humiliating her.”

• "He already has embarrassed himself as much as he can." The whole world’s read his sensuous words, and he can tell the public, “You already know everything that is wrong with me.”
• "He knows how to fool all of the press some of the time and some of the press all of the time." The Washington Post reported that he was “quite happily married” the day he announced the affair.
• "If he can get the missus in line, he is home free." Getting back together with his wife would give him “a second chance” from South Carolinians, says Sen. Lindsey Graham. But winning back her affections may be tough.
