For the second time in recent memory, a Senator Dodd from Connecticut is accused of corruption and faces a rocky political future, Newsweek reports. The current senator, Chris Dodd, is a 28-year veteran and former presidential candidate, but after devising an AIG loophole and appearing to make shady housing deals, he faces 54% of voters who say they don’t find him “honest or trustworthy.”

That’s similar to sentiment about his father, Thomas, whose colleagues censured him 92-5 for misusing campaign funds. He died shortly after losing re-election. The younger Dodd insists he was “screwed,” adding that now he is the victim of a “series of coincidences.” Against friends’ advice, Dodd is determined to run again: “This is what I do—better than my father.”
