Good news for Deadwood fans Wednesday, as HBO confirmed, after years of rumors, that a Deadwood movie is in the works. The Ian McShane- and Timothy Olyphant-led Western drama ended after three seasons 12 years ago in what the Hollywood Reporter calls an "inconclusive" fashion, with conflicting reports as to whether it was originally meant to continue for another season, and Vulture reports fans have been waiting for the storyline to be wrapped up for a while. HBO chief Casey Bloys made the announcement during a TCA session, and didn't give many details beyond the fact that series creator David Milch is writing the movie and it will start filming in October. He says he hopes it will premiere in spring 2019. People were pretty excited about the news on Twitter. (Powers Boothe, who played Cy Tolliver, died last year.)
