White House aide Kelly Sadler reportedly called Meghan McCain Thursday to apologize for an insensitive remark she'd made about McCain's seriously ill father, Sen. John McCain, at an internal meeting of communications staffers earlier that day. Sadler's original comment, in response to John McCain saying he opposes Gina Haspel to be the next CIA director: "It doesn't matter, he's dying anyway." The younger McCain apparently wasn't appeased by Sadler's apology. "I don't understand what kind of environment you're working in when that would be acceptable and then you could come to work the next day and still have a job," McCain said on The View Friday morning, per the Hill.

She added, "My father's legacy is going to be talked about for hundreds and hundreds of years. These people? Nothing burgers." Plus, a final tidbit for Sadler: "Kelly, here's a little news flash, and this may be a bit intense for 11 o'clock in the morning on a Friday, but we're all dying." Meanwhile, a Fox Business Network guest who also insulted McCain this week is reportedly seeing the consequences of his remarks. A Fox spokesperson tells Mediaite that retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney, who appeared on Charles Payne's show Thursday and said torture obviously works because it made "Songbird John" give up info on the US while he was a POW in Vietnam, will no longer appear as a guest on the network.
