President Trump is losing another high-profile staffer: Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert is resigning, reports the Hill. His departure is the latest in a shakeup of the national security team: The announcement comes a day after John Bolton took over as national security adviser. The Washington Post reports that Bossert was an important behind-the-scenes player in the shaping of Trump's policies and had been well-liked by the president. But Bossert also was an ally of Bolton's predecessor, HR McMaster, and so faced an uncertain future under Bolton.

"The president is grateful to Tom's commitment to the safety and security of our great country," said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a statement. The resignation also follows that of National Security Council spokesman Michael Anton, seen as another strategic figure. In addition to getting a new national security adviser, Trump also has changed his secretary of state, his VA secretary, his chief economic adviser, his staff secretary, and his communications chief, along with high-profile attorneys, in this calendar year alone, per the Post.
