Rosie O'Donnell's ex-wife, 46-year-old Michelle Rounds, was found dead at her home Monday morning of an apparent suicide. Sources told TMZ of Rounds' death Friday, and multiple outlets including People have since confirmed the news with the local sheriff's office. "I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife and their child," O'Donnell says in a statement.

O'Donnell and Rounds started dating in 2011, were married in 2012, and then adopted a daughter in 2013—Dakota, who is now 4. The couple split in 2014 and their divorce was finalized in 2016. Rounds had since married again and is survived by her wife, parents, brother, two daughters, and a stepson. O'Donnell, who tweeted about Dakota earlier this week, has been tweeting about mental health and suicide awareness since news about Rounds broke. (More Rosie O'Donnell stories.)
