"If you can't get motivated at Wimbledon, it's time to find another job." That, per the BBC, is the disgusted reaction of tennis great Martina Navratilova upon hearing that Aussie player Bernard Tomic shrugged off his loss to Mischa Zverev at Wimbledon on Tuesday by citing overall ennui. "I felt a little bit bored out there," the 24-year-old admitted afterward. "The last … year or two, nothing motivates." He added he also may not respect the sport all that much and that he knows after putting in another 10 years or so on the court, "I won't have to work again." His response has other Australian players "cringing," notes the Guardian, with Aussie tennis coach Roger Rasheed saying Tomic should probably take a breather from the sport.

That's Mark Douglass' take for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, writing that Tomic's don't-care attitude may be "a cry for help." A sports psychologist he talked to sees definite "danger signs" in Tomic, noting: "He may well be actually saying I just can't do this anymore or I'm having trouble coping." The Herald Sun, meanwhile, calls Tomic's bout with lethargy "brutally modern" and not limited to Tomic, adding he likely needs help finding purpose and shouldn't simply be treated like a "heretic who spat on the cross." It's not the first time Tomic has courted controversy: The BBC points out previous attitude issues and a 2015 arrest on trespassing charges for refusing to leave a US hotel room. Navratilova doesn't seem to care what Tomic's underlying issues are, calling his actions "disrespectful." "The guy shows up and … can't be bothered," she says. "Just stay at home." (Casey Anthony is similarly bored.)
