It can be tough to watch, even with the happy ending. Authorities in South Carolina have released video of the rescue of Kala Brown, who had been chained inside a metal container by serial killer Todd Kohlhepp on his property near Woodruff for about two months, reports the Independent-Mail. Officers are seen forcing their way into the container and coming across Brown. "My neck's attached to the wall," she tells them. "We're getting bolt cutters, honey," an officer says at one point. She also informs them that Kohlhepp had killed her boyfriend. "Todd Kohlhepp shot Charlie Carver three times in the chest, wrapped him in a blue tarp, put him in the bucket of the tractor, locked me down here," she says. "I've never seen him again. He says he's dead and buried. He says there are several bodies dead and buried out here."

Authorities also released lengthy videos in which Kohlhepp confesses to killing seven people. See them here and here. As BuzzFeed notes, he appears almost boastful at times, with no sign of remorse. Of a multiple murder at a motorcycle shop years ago, for instance: "That was one big building," he says. "I cleared that building in under 30 seconds. I'm sorry, but you guys would have been proud." Asked if any of the four victims there had asked for mercy, Kohlhepp said he didn't know. "Once I engaged, I was engaged," he said. "It was almost like a video game." Kohlhepp pleaded guilty two weeks ago to avoid the death penalty and is now serving life in prison, per the AP. (More serial killer stories.)
