Theresa May: Trump a 'Gentleman'

When President Trump took British PM Theresa May by the hand during her visit to the White House in January, some suggested it showed he was a leader and she a follower, reports NBC News. But Trump was "actually being a gentleman," says May. In an interview with Vogue, May explains that the pair were approaching what Trump described as an "awkward" step down a ramp at the White House when Trump took her hand in a chivalrous gesture. "I like to think we got on," she says, but adds that hardly makes her a pushover.

May wouldn't comment on "private conversations" when asked if she confronted Trump about comments he has made about women, which May has called "unacceptable." But "I've been very clear: I'm not afraid to raise issues and the nature of the relationship is such that we should be able to be frank and open with each other," she says, adding, "It's not a popularity stakes, being prime minister. I think what's important is for people to feel that I'm delivering for them." May also covered plenty of other topics in the interview, including leather pants. (More Donald Trump stories.)
