Spending New Year's Eve in New York City? You may be surprised to know it's not the most expensive place you could be. (Though even its Olive Garden is pricey.) CheapHotels.org looked at the cheapest double room available from Dec. 30 to Jan. 2 in 30 major global destinations, excluding hotels that were rated poorly or were not in a central location. The result? Here are the top 10 most expensive destinations for New Year's Eve, along with the minimum nightly hotel rate you can expect to pay—and how much of a price hike that rate is:

  1. Cancun, Mexico: $311/night, a 274% hike
  2. Dubai, United Arab Emirates: $302/night, a 176% hike

  1. Miami Beach: $286, a 289% hike
  2. Los Angeles: $272, a 76% hike
