A boy reported missing four years ago by his mother was reunited with her today after police found him hidden behind a false wall at an Atlanta-area house, reports WSB-TV. The 13-year-old boy's father, stepmother, and three others have been charged with false imprisonment and cruelty to children. Police say that when the boy visited his father from Florida in 2010, the father refused to let him return. The boy's mother reported him missing to child welfare authorities, but the case apparently went nowhere, for reasons that remain unclear.

Police first went to the home in Clayton County last night after getting a report about a child-abuse situation, but the occupants denied that the boy lived there, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Police got a second call, returned about 2am, and eventually found the boy behind a closet. He had apparently managed to call his mother while police were in the house, and she then passed along information to officers about how to find him. Authorities say they have lots of unanswered questions. (More missing child stories.)
