"We are coming for you," Moner Mohammad Abusalha warns the US in a chilling video recorded before he carried out a suicide truck bombing in Syria in May. The 22-year-old, who was born and grew up in Florida, rips up, bites, and burns his American passport in the video released this week, reports the New York Daily News. "Know that Islam is coming and will dominate over you," he says. "We will come with AKs. We will come with our bombs. We have small weapons, but we will take you down. We have hearts of lions. You are scared of death, while we love death."

Abusalha, whose father is a Palestinian-American, played high school basketball and attended college in Florida before dropping out to go to Syria. Investigators have discovered that after Abusalha received training from extremists in Syria, he came back to the US for months before returning to Syria, reports the New York Times, which notes that the case shows the difficulty of tracking Westerners recruited by extremist groups. "Once they get to Syria, our ability to understand where they are or what they’re doing is really limited," the director of the National Counterterrorism Center said at a conference last week, adding that law enforcement estimates that 100 Americans have received jihad training in Syria are probably too low.
