If you're not into crunches, you can suction your way to a six-pack. 'Abdominal etching' is a kind of precision liposuction that sucks out the fat that lies between your washboard stomach and the appreciative world. But surgeons caution that you have to have the right amount of fat to work with, about 1 to 2 pinchable centimeters, says the Wall Street Journal health blog.

A paper on the procedure was presented at this year's conference of plastic surgeons by Dr. Aldo Benjamin Guerra, who says that the $4,000-$7,000 procedure, which has been available for more than a decade, hasn't truly taken off. One possible reason is that it's most popular with men, who are still in the minority of plastic surgery patients. (More plastic surgery stories.)
